Download it from google.com/chrome Now, is it free download? Yes. Google Chrome for Windows is a free download. You do not need to pay anything to download the app for your PC.
Install Google Chrome Windows 8 App
The Google Chrome app for Windows 8 can be downloaded from google.com/chrome. It is the same installer that you would use on any other Windows computer. Installation is easy and straightforward. Google Chrome for Windows 8 64 Bit
Google now offers Chrome 64 bit for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. This is currently available for developer channel (early experimental builds) and Canary (another experimental channel). Read all about it here.
How to Enable Google Chrome Metro Mode on Windows 8
Metro mode gives you a Chrome OS like environment within your Windows PC. It opens Chrome in Windows 8 mode, full screen and the Chromebook desktop environment. To enable Metro Mode on Windows 8, go to settings menu and select Relaunch Google Chrome in Metro Mode.
How to Disable Google Chrome Metro Mode on Windows 8
When you have Google Chrome on Metro Mode, click the settings icon, and choose “Relaunch in Desktop Mode“. This will restart Google Chrome in normal mode or desktop mode.
How to minimize Google Chrome in Windows 8?
Click the Settings icon on the top right corner to go to settings. And from there, click Relaunch in Desktop Mode. Google Chrome will now restart into the normal mode. This is your regular Google Chrome (non-metro mode). Alt+F is your keyboard shortcut. Hope you got that fixed!

Google Chrome on Windows 8 and Pinch to Zoom
Pinch to Zoom is one of the most asked-for features of Google Chrome for Windows 8. This feature has been added to Google Chrome now. Enable the flag Enable Pinch flag to test this.
- Open chrome://flags/#enable-pinch on Google Chrome.
- From the dropdown list, select Enable
- Restart Google Chrome
- Try pinch to zoom now.
Google Chrome Slow on Windows 8

Chrome Windows Phone 8
Unfortunately, Google Chrome is not yet available for Windows Phone operating system. It is the same situation for Google Chrome on Windows RT. There is nothing much known about Google’s plans for releasing apps for Microsoft’s mobile platform. If there is any news of such plan, be assured that chromestory.com will report it for you!
Chrome OS Experience on Windows 8
The Metro Mode Chrome app on Windows 8 behaves just like Chrome OS. It gives an immersive experience within the Chrome UI.
To enable this, all you have to do is launch Chrome in Metro Mode (Alt + F). Here is what you get:
- Multiple windows, including incognito
- Re-size windows and move them around just like Chrome OS
- Apps menu
- Apps shelf (or the task bar)
- Settings menu on bottom-right-corner (where I get a Chrome OS like “restart to update” message), and a power down (!!) icon.
- A nice feeling, because I love Chrome OS.
This web page is not available” error with Chrome on windows 8
The Google Chrome team is aware of an issue that affects Google services on Chrome for Windows 8. You might see Google.com or Gmail giving you page not available error during twitter.com or facebook.com works. According to a Google employee,the team is aware of this issue. His exact words: we’re aware of bugs in Cisco SafeScan and Kaspersky that interact badly with a workaround in Chrome 33 for a different, third-party bug.
But there is a workaround too.
Settings -> Additional -> Network -> unclick “Scan encrypted connections”
If all HTTPS sites are broken then there’s also an issue with ESET. ESET have reported that they are working on a fix but, for now, the troublesome feature can be disabled with:
Setup -> Advanced setup… -> Web and Email -> Web access protection -> HTTP, HTTPS -> check “do not use HTTP protocol checking” and click “OK”.
